We believe in the idea of tribes. Watu Moja's Black Art Showcases are fast growing and high energy fundraisers. Black space is important for building community, relationships, and bare expression in a safe space within the community. Each event allows for artists, performers, and entrepreneurs to gather in a common space to encourage, grow, and support one another.

Art is the expression of the soul, the unapologetic release that brings one's self before the eyes of the world to see. The Black experience is multi-faceted, passionate, powerful, heartbreaking and hopeful. in our quest to form unity in the image of "ONE PEOPLE," curating spaces for Black art is crucial. Only sharing our thoughts and emotions can draw us closer than ever before. Special thanks to Camden Fireworks for welcoming us into their space to have our very first art showcase.

They say lightening never strike twice, but KUUMBA, our second art showcase arrived like a thunderstorm of creative energy. Exceeding every expectation er could have imagined, KUUMBA became a moment in our tribe history. Our first show set the tone, but it was here that an inspiring truth became clear. in the way the community gathered for these celebration of life, together we have created something remarkable

Purpose is not given. Purpose is found.

Throughout the year, usual praise of the showcases was along the lines of: "I have never experienced anything like this before" or "It is important to have space like this." our mission is to uplift and unite a collective "ONE PEOPLE" and in pursuit of doing so we opened the gates for our community to follow suit. What blossomed along the way is beauty we never anticipated, but will never be forgotten. There is power in our people. There is power in our purpose.
