Children of Promise Connecting Throughout the Afrikan Continent and the Diaspora

Watu Moja seeks to connect African American and Afro Latino youths to the people and cultures of the global Afrikan community, found both within the Afrikan continent and the throughout the Afrikan Diaspora. It is the aim of Watu Moja to spiritually enliven young people and to help them discover the true message and the meaning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Unlike traditional missions trips, Watu Moja assumes American young people will receive much more than they could ever give through these experiences with the people of the Afrikan continent and with those of the global Afrikan Diaspora.

Here's What We're Watching

Yes We Do Know

How to Spell Afrika!

Watu Moja is dedicated to seeking the emergence of a liberated Afrikan continent and to the full liberation of the people of the global Afrikan Diaspora. The use of the popular precolonial spelling “Afrika” signals our solidarity with those who seek to affect the healing of wounds inflicted through colonialism, slavery, racism, oppression, and exploitation. When we use Afrika, we envision a new Afrikan reality founded on principles of justice, love, and peace. Through this vision we proclaim to the world our identity with Christ and his anointing to proclaim good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, and to set at liberty those who are oppressed (Luke 4:18).
